Something about petrol price in my country

I believe that all Malaysians are shocked with the increase in fuel price, starting Wednesday midnight. I myself am shocked too.

Previously, petrol was sold at RM 1.92 per litre.

Now, petrol is sold at RM 2.70 per litre, an increase of RM 0.78 per litre.

On my way back from work on the day the increment was announced, I was stuck in jam for almost 3 hours. The jam stretched along the LDP highway, how did I know? I stay in Kelana Jaya for the time being and I use that road everyday, that’s how I know. Luckily, I wasn’t driving. My sister drove for 3 hours and I fell asleep for 2 times. The jam sourced from petrol stations all over the place. Imagine how worried and anxious people were.

To be honest, this increment affects people from all over the country. PM was saying (I think he was trying to explain) how the government could no longer subsidize petrol in Malaysia. He was comparing how low the petrol price in our country is compare to those neighbouring country.

Actually, I don’t give a damn what’s the petrol price in other countries. Government just can’t stop comparing Malaysia to other countries. I’m not trying to say that this is not good but try to think of our current situation before start comparing ourselves to others. The nation could barely survive already and now the government wants to add another burden to the nation.

We pay tax every year (I, too, will pay when I work). We pay willingly as we want the government to wisely utilize the money so that it can bring benefits to everyone, especially the tax payer.

With the increase in petrol price, our PM is promoting and encouraging us to use public transports. Let’s put it this way, most of the residential areas are not within walking distance to KTM or LRT stations. People will still have to drive to these stations before they can take KTM or LRT to work/school. From KTM/LRT stations, they have to walk or even worse, take bus/taxi to workplace. What’s the point of using public transportation if it doesn’t make our life any easier? People drive because it’s more convenient. People aren’t so stupid until they will do something to mess up their own life.

Public transports will also start increasing the rate/fees, soon.

Singaporeans are willing to pay and happy with the new rate. I don’t give a damn about what they think. If, as a Malaysian, we have to think what people from outside feels and screwing our own life, that’s called commit suicide.

I’ve received an e-mail from my friend stating the petrol prices in some countries around the world. Example

Egypt at RM 1.03/litre

Iran at RM 0.35/litre

Kuwait at RM 0.67/litre

Malaysia is producing its own oil. I don’t understand why we can get so affected by oil price in world market. I don’t understand why government keeps comparing Malaysia to other countries. Actually, we can survive strongly on our own. Government keeps telling us to look at Japan (Dasar Pandang ke Timur). Why la…sigh…

I even start planning to move back to hostel. If I stay out, with the rent and paying the petrol, I think I will get broke. At least I can walk to and fro between classes if I stay in hostel. If I stay outside the campus,

· I have to eat roti most of the time and save money for petrol

· I have to go out less and save money for petrol

· I have to travel less and save money for petrol

· I have to walk more and save money for petrol

If I stay in campus,

· I can’t access the internet all the time

· I have to share toilet with others

· I have to follow the rules in hostel

· I heard that there are rapists in hostel!

How can I choose freely with the only options that I have. I hate people messing up my life, including government!

Besides that, the news also announced that TNB is going to increase electricity bill starting 1st July. My goodness. How are people going to survive with inflation in everything? Why does all the ‘best’ thing has to come at the same time?

The biggest reason for the all this thing is that those ‘powerful’ and dominating societies want to see people break down and collapse. I’m starting to feel that it’s so unsafe and insecure staying in this country. I am but human, I feel insecure when everything around me starts changing and it’s right to express my feeling.

Poor people will get poorer. Rich people won’t get affected much by the inflation if not get richer. PM said that with this move, the economy condition in the country will get better. If people are still earning the same amount, but all the goods and necessities prices go up until a state where everything is no longer affordable, those who are desperate and being pushed to the corner will start robbing/stealing. Malaysia will no longer attain its peacefulness and tranquility. People will go out less and buy fewer things. Money is not flowing. In the end, economy will not grow and the whole community system will collapse. I wonder this is what government wants to see and regret in the end of the day…

yeah!
i'm just a student. i get PTPTN every semester. after deduction of tuition fees, i will have approximately 2K to survive through the whole semester, which is around 4 to 5 months. inflation is everywhere. before inflation caused by the hike in petrol price, i could barely survive already. now, i have to pay extra for everything.
it's not that i don't want to get a part time job to earn extra pocket money, but i will be in my 4th year soon, i have to get busy with thesis and design projects, how am i going to cope.
government will be super duper happy to see me dying by the roadside.
